

While digging around on the east side of Black Hill today we came across these strange little beetle larvae. They ranged in size from about a quarter inch to about an inch and a half. I didn't bother to key it out all the way, but they appear to be click beetle larvae. Like I said, strange little critters. It always amazes me how much is living beneath the ground in healthy soil. So many little creatures going about their lives doing what they do best, converting dead and decaying plants back into useful nutrients; continuing the cycle of life.
